The total elapsed time of an appliance cycle from start to finish.
Definition
Cycle time is the elapsed wall-clock time for an appliance cycle. Modern appliances often run longer cycles than older models because the slower wash, drain, and tumble actions clean better and use less energy. A typical front-load washer Normal cycle runs 50-90 minutes; a quiet dishwasher Normal cycle runs 90-180 minutes; an Eco mode dishwasher cycle can run 3-4 hours. Cycle time is not the same as labor time — the user's labor is unchanged. Use cycle time as input for scheduling rather than as a measure of efficiency.
